The FilmNightDevotional is a young St. Peter's format in cooperation with the Nordic Film Days. At a late hour, a film from the previous year's competition is shown in the church hall. It is also an introduction to the upcoming Film Days, which will take place this year from 1 to 5 November. The film screening will be framed with live music, texts and a commentary by Pastor Dr Bernd Schwarze, turning a film night into a film devotion at the same time.
María and Ingvar live on a farm in a remote area of Iceland. There are no neighbours far and wide. They don't need many words to communicate, either at the dinner table or in the barn. When they look after the flock of sheep together, the movements are well-rehearsed. This also applies to the birth of the new lambs. One of them is a special specimen, and the childless couple gives the strange creature all their attention. When Ingvar's brother shows up unannounced, he seems like a troublemaker. At the same time, the sheep become increasingly restless. The film plays with horror elements and draws on Nordic mythology and its mythical creatures and forest spirits. We continue to imagine these mysteries in our heads. In the barren, cloud-covered valleys we go in search of clues: Do the eyes of the sheep really glow so strangely? And who are they actually looking at with their eyes?
Karin Lorenz will provide the musical framework with improvisations on motifs from the film. The FilmNightDevotional begins at 9 pm and lasts two hours. The St. Petri Café will be providing snacks and drinks before and after the event. Admission € 12 / reduced € 8 plus booking fee, tickets at St. Petri Turmshop, www.luebeck-ticket.de and at the box office.
