Reading - Wolfram Eilenberger - "Geister der Gegenwart"

The award-winning philosopher and publicist Wolfram Eilenberger will present his latest book, *"Geister der Gegenwart – Die letzten Jahre der Philosophie und der Beginn einer neuen Aufklärung 1948-1984"* (*Spirits of the Present – The Final Years of Philosophy and the Beginning of a New Enlightenment 1948-1984*), at the cultural and university church St. Petri in Lübeck.

Eilenberger is one of the most translated contemporary non-fiction authors writing in German. The first two volumes of his intellectual history trilogy, *"Zeit der Zauberer"* (*Time of the Magicians*) and *"Feuer der Freiheit"* (*The Fire of Freedom*), are international bestsellers. Now, the third volume has been published, once again shedding light on the life and thinking of four major philosophers of the Western post-war period: Theodor W. Adorno, Susan Sontag, Michel Foucault, and Paul K. Feyerabend.

Narratively masterful, Eilenberger combines biography, historiography, and the dissemination of philosophical ideas in his work. In doing so, he offers readers philosophical and historical insights that can be applied to the major questions and crises of our time.

Eilenberger will introduce his book in the context of the trilogy project and read excerpts from it in St. Petri. The evening will be accompanied musically by oboist Birgit Sader. Following the event, the author will sign books at the Hugendubel table.
